With the event of withdrawal of the UK from the European Union being subject to transitional arrangements, many existing .EU domains will no longer comply with the eligibility criteria that has been set. Any .EU domain using a UK registrant address without EU27 citizenship will be disconnected and will not be available for new registration.

From 01.01.2021, the registry for .eu domains (EURid) will withdraw any .EU domains which do not comply.

Be FUTURE READY and save your .EU domains affected by the impact of BREXIT latest by 31.12.2020.

If you have a citizenship of European Union member country, you can add your citizenship in the domain registrant contact data.
  • Keep your domain by choosing our Partner Service

If you move or cancel a domain, all email addresses set up for this domain will be deleted. E-Mails, which are sent to the deleted email addresses, will not be delivered. What does a Partner Service mean?

To register a .EU domain name, the registry requires that the registrant must meet the General Eligibility Criteria, whereby it must be either: an undertaking or an organisation having its registered office, central administration of business within the EU, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein or a natural person resident within the EU, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein. The Partner Service will provide you the means to register/keep your domain by transferring your ownership to our trusted partner.

What does "transferring your ownership" mean?

If you choose the partner service, your domain ownership will be transferred to our trusted partner (with a valid EU address) under a legal framework and you will use the domain without any hindrance by leasing it from them (no extra steps are required from you). In this case our partner will be the rightful owner of the domain and you will be using it as a lessee. If you decide that you no longer want to use the Partner Service, you can change your domain registrant contact data to a valid address in the European Union at any time. In this case, the ownership will be transferred to the new registrant contact.

What impact will it have on my domain?

You will be able to leverage the domain name as it is, only the ownership of the domain will be transferred to our trusted partner with in a legal framework.
